10 things you need to know about MTV Presents: Ocean City Sounds

March 23, 2018

Plymouth’s hottest music event, MTV Presents: Ocean City Sounds, will bring two days of live music to Plymouth Hoe this July. With Bastille already confirmed to headline the first night and more acts soon to be announced here are the top 10 things you need to know:

1. It will be on MTV!

Ocean City Sounds forms part of MTV’s summer of music and will be broadcast as part of the ‘MTV Presents’ series - which will also include Gibraltar and Varna Beach.

A highlights show will be shown on MTV in August so make sure you get ready to spot yourself in the crowd!

2. Playing Plymouth Hoe is a dream come true for Bastille drummer Chris ‘Woody’ Wood

Talking about performing at Ocean City Sounds, he said: "Playing on The Hoe is absolutely a dream come true for me. It's a truly iconic place that defines the city and every Plymothian has happy memories up there. I grew up watching gigs there, so to finally get a chance to play just blows my mind. We always get an amazing welcome when I drag the band back home with me and I just can't wait.”

3. More big names will be joining the line-up

Day 1 is set to feature four big names including Bastille and, with the rest of the line-up being announced very soon, we’re getting ready to welcome more great artists to Plymouth this July. Day 2 artists will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

4. Entry costs less than dinner and a movie!

With tickets available for £25 (plus booking fee), it’ll cost you less to enjoy a night of incredible music on Plymouth Hoe than it would to go for dinner and a night at the cinema. How’s that for good value?!

5. It’s all the best bits of a festival – without the camping

With two huge days of live music on the iconic Plymouth Hoe you can experience all the best bits of a festival, with on-site bars, food and dancing into the night, without having to sleep in a tent or walk miles in your wellies to get to the stage.

6. You can experience it like a VIP

If you’re looking for a special viewing area close to the stage, a private bar, food and posh loos you can treat yourself to the VIP experience for just £75 (plus booking fee).

7. You can buy your coach travel and event ticket together

If you’re heading to Plymouth from further afield you can book your travel and event ticket in one place with Big Green Coach’s combination package. With a number of pick-up locations across the South West and easy drop-off and collection points close to the event site you won’t need to rely on lifts or taxis to make the most of the music.

8. Glasto-loos!

The 250+ portaloos at Ocean City Sounds are the same loos that will be at Glastonbury next year – Plymouth gets them first, because we’re the best!

9. It takes more than 1,000 people to put on the event

If you count the events team behind the organisation of the event, the performers, the crews, the first aid and security staff and stewards on site it takes more than 1,000 people to bring Ocean City Sounds together for the people of Plymouth to enjoy.

10. It’s definitely going to be sunny, probably
